Tell us about Lovely Paper Stuff.
In 2008 I had just moved to Zurich, Switzerland from the UK with my husband’s job. While I was enjoying the beautiful surroundings and picking up lots of inspiration for my art, I felt a little lonely and disconnected in unfamiliar surroundings – plus my German was a little rusty from my school days! It was then I felt a desire to start working on some greeting card ideas to send to family and friends back home, in a bid to feel closer to them. I realised the importance of connections, and how greeting cards can be used as a tool to nurture relationships. I had an abundance of plans, but we welcomed two children while living over there, and things became suddenly very hectic. It was only after moving back to the UK and after the birth of our third (and definitely final!) baby that it wasn’t long before the country was hit with lockdowns, and it suddenly occurred to me that I needed to start creating again – so I could help connect people and shove a little chuckle through their letterboxes!
Tell us about your cards.
Lovely Paper Stuff aims to bring a mass of colour to the market! There are so many beautiful white-based animal cards on the market and while our cards aren’t exclusively animal cards – we still felt there was a gap on the shelves, which we felt we could fill with our funny, punny cards and their spectrum of contrasting colours. Our cards contrast from back to front, inside to out – along with a bright envelope – they really stand out.
We have lots of new cards being launched at Harrogate Home & Gift, and a new range, which we are very excited to showcase. The range is more sentimental, and ‘wholesome’ for want of a better word. We have a variety of age cards, including teens, and some beautiful contrasting colours.
What are your bestselling ranges?
Our Cool as Duck is currently our only, but expanding range, which we recently showcased at PG Live. The range was extremely well received at the show, and we gained a lot of new stockists, most of whom we found giggling away to themselves as they were browsing! We also gave a sneak preview of our new range, which created a lot of interest.
What about eco-friendly credentials?
All our cards are printed on FSC certified board, which is fully recyclable, and come with a recyclable envelope and eco clasp. All the cards are printed and designed here in the UK.
