Italian card brand Origamo has produced the world’s largest pop-up greeting card.
The card, produced by the Turin-based publisher, founded by Furio Ceciliato, President of the Italian Greeting Card Association, marks the 70th anniversary of the death of Frida Kahlo, the famous Mexican artist.
The huge card measures almost 3m high and 9.67sq m, which beat the previous world record of 8.20sq m, which was established in Dubai.
Furio Ceciliato said he wanted to ”create a bridge between this female icon of strength, perseverance and independence and all the girls in the world who, regardless of their social context, have the right to be able to pursue and realize their dreams’’.
Thanks to a pool of sponsoring companies, the new record was achieved earlier this month at the opening of trade fair Milano Home.
The giant card, depicting Frida Kahlo and developed in official collaboration with the Frida Kahlo Corporation of Miami, also has a charitable purpose: to collect donations for the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation, a foundation operating in Vietnam for the aid and support of most vulnerable children and families in difficulty.
A ‘normal’ size, limited-edition version of the card is available for those who make a donation to the foundation, and similar pop-up cards can also be found in Origamo’s Frida Kahlo Collection.
