The GCA’s recent Dragons Speed Dating event went off with a bang – with 155 retailers, buyers and suppliers taking part.
GCA CEO Amanda Fergusson told Greetings Today: “There was a real buzz to the day and feedback from those taking part was great. Everyone was just keen to get together again – and it’s so nice to see people in the flesh.
“We had several new buyers this year – including those from the likes of John Lewis and Card Factory. The current buoyancy in the card market was felt, with some retailers placing orders there and then - consumers are buying greeting cards and retailers are ordering them!’’
Amanda added that the subject of rising costs was brought up during the Panel discussion: “Publishers were asking our panel of business owners and leaders in the industry what steps they were taking, given current trading challenges. We had a discussion about the need for publishers and retailers to plan ahead, order early and talk to your suppliers and find out what their lead times are – so you can agree price and secure the quantities you need.’’
