The winners for Clintons’ ‘Design a Christmas Card’ competition have been revealed.
Clintons have announced the winners of its annual Christmas Card Competition, whose designs have been printed and are available to buy online now. Clintons runs the competition with Rays of Sunshine, a children’s charity that brightens the lives of seriously ill children and their families, by granting magical wishes and providing ongoing support within hospitals.
Each year, Rays of Sunshine invites the children and families it supports to take part in the competition to design the front of a Christmas card, at home or in hospital, and Clintons’ card experts chose the winning design. A percentage (15%) of the price of each pack excluding VAT is donated to the charity.
This year’s winning artists are Sienna, aged nine from Nottingham, with her festive snowman, and Izabelle, aged 10 from Kent, with her adorable reindeer design. Izabelle’s sister Amelia, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2013, had her greatest wish granted by Rays of Sunshine to go to CBeebies Land. Sienna has been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and is currently living with Cardio Myopathy. Rays of Sunshine granted her greatest wish to go to Disney World in Florida with her family in 2016.
When asked about her design, Sienna, said the reason she wanted to design a Christmas card was “to make people happy and smile.â€
Izabelle said that her design was inspired by Rudolph, resembling the gift of friendship as her favourite thing about Christmas is spending time with her family and friends.
Jane Sharpe, Trustee of Rays of Sunshine, said, “Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year that everyone looks forward to. We might be celebrating a little bit differently this holiday season but the act of sending well wishes never gets old. Giving our winners the opportunity to have their designs printed helps to raise their spirits and we are so proud of all the children who entered. The funds raised this festive season will enable Rays of Sunshine to continue to brighten the lives of seriously ill children across the UK, for which we can’t be more grateful.â€
Nicola Miller, Buying Director at Clintons, said, “We are incredibly proud to be supporting Rays of Sunshine and believe that this year the competition is particularly poignant as so many families, friends and loved ones have been kept apart from each other due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Sending Christmas cards is one of the few ways of communicating handwritten heartfelt messages to those we can’t see and we know that these beautifully designed cards by Sienna and Izabelle are sure to put a smile on everyone’s faces.â€
