The GA and PressLoft share their top trends for the coming season.
The world hasn’t stopped despite lockdowns and no physical trade fairs and trends are continuing to evolve. Sarah Ward, CEO of the Giftware Association looks at the big trends hitting the industry this season.
Throughout lockdown the home and giftware world has not stopped, it has slowed down a little but there has still been plenty of trends which suppliers and giftware makers can apply to their products and ranges. The Giftware Association has worked closely with PR Agency PressLoft to produce two trends webinars over the past few months informing the industry of what is to come in the next few months and into next year.
Colour is incredibly important when it comes to products and interiors and the trends change constantly. The Dulux colour of the year for 2021 is ‘Brave Ground’ which is an earthy beige hue which connects us to nature and will bring a sense of warmth to any interior space, essential with so much time spent at home, and potentially more being spent indoors over the winter months. It also works well will with other muted colours which suppliers can apply to their gift ranges and accessories.
Some other trends identified by PressLoft are to do with the home and can be applied to products, décor and design.
Abstract Shapes, Faces and Lines – These will add a modern and contemporary twist to home design and a lot of brands will be using this in 2021 alongside bold colours.
Grandmillenial – This trend is also known as grannychic, and increasingly popular in the interior and home furniture worlds. It basically focusses on using older styles amongst a glam décor for an interesting and colourful interior, this will be seen applied to other products in the home and gift world. As retailers, it provides the opportunity to pair unusual pieces together to inspire your customers.
Tone on Tone – This is when one main colour is used and the rest of the colour is in similar hues and shades. These variations in shade have already been used on stationery products in the industry. The concept can also form the basis for eye-catching product displays and effective merchandising in stores.
